Debtors take advantage of us consumers not knowing our rights! Although I champion anyone doing the work to repair their credit, many do more harm due to the lack of knowledge of the law. ๐Ÿ˜ฃโฃ โฃ This is why I am so passionate about what I do! A little different strategy than usual. Through other reseller accounts we found that exercise/home gym items were selling for above retail prices on eBay so we adapted to the current market and got some inventory on our last grocery trip. We picked up 8 Kettlebell sets ($29 each) and 15 Pull Up bars ($18 each). We have already sold 2 Pull Up bars and 1 Kettlebell set. Profit on the bars is about $20 per and profit on the Kettlebells is about $50 per unit sold. What a time that weโ€™re living in right now. However in this time of uncertainty, these are our top 6 things weโ€™re grateful for. โ € โ € Our HOME. Shelter is very important to us all. It provides comfort and protection. Weโ€™re thankful for our home. Even with the old creaky floors, the messy beds or dishes in the sink. Weโ€™ve feel safe and protected here. โ € โ € Reading the Bible and praying are very important to us. Weโ€™re not perfect and maybe there are times when we donโ€™t do this but for now weโ€™re thankful that we have the opportunity to do this more than before. โ € โ € Weโ€™re a family of 3. Two adults and a little one. We are all working and doing school at home. Is it chaotic, maybe. Would we change it? No. Weโ€™re spending so much time together and we love it. There are times when we are all In Separate rooms and we love our private time also. But having everyone together is something that we are enjoying. โ € โ € We love cooking and weโ€™re getting a chance to experiment more and more. Weโ€™re eating such great meals, Even when it is just eggs and toast. Weโ€™re so thankful for having food on our table. Weโ€™re also eating together. Thatโ€™s something that weโ€™ve desired to do more of. โ € โ € Sure weโ€™re working but after that weโ€™re also relaxing. Weโ€™re using this time to just do nothing sometimes. Weโ€™re watching cooking tutorials or Netflix. Son is learning all about the Star Wars lineage. So thankful for this time of rest. โ € โ € Weโ€™re meeting more and more people on IG. Weโ€™re laughing with the funny posts and crying with the more emotional ones. Love the family that we have made here. You are entertaining us and keeping us informed. โ € โ € So yes itโ€™s crazy right now but I urge you to look on the positive side to all this. There is hope for a greater tomorrow and there love to spread. Itโ€™s also ok to feel sad but remember that there are those around you that you can call on to help you cheer up. Last Wednesday, I was crying my eyes out after losing my job.... This Wednesday, I laughed hysterically for the first time in a whileโ€ฆ. This was my sons reaction when he found out it was a girl. We had to remind him, that he does actually get on with girls, especially his cousin, they are so close. Being pregnant during the lockdown has not been easy. Itโ€™s the little things you look forward to on the pregnancy journey like going for a scan, which is no longer exciting. I walked into the hospital alone feeling so sad and worried. as no kids or partners are allowed, I was hoping we could all find out the gender together, so asked the sonographer to write it down but unfortunately that wasn't allowed too so this is what happened when I told my son. Thankfully, baby is healthy (which is all that matters and to my disbelief it was a girl. Now I can get my tubes tied!

This shirt will be 5 years old soon, and thereโ€™s a story here. . During my school and uni life, I was always a part of house sports, civic clubs, awareness walks and activities. Simply put, I represent, always. It was something I loved to do. However, after the birth of our daughter and subsequent separation, I hadnโ€™t done a walk for close to two years. During that time, I didnโ€™t bake, I didnโ€™t create, I was literally going day by day, breath by breath. . I had been whispering to myself that I had no way of getting back to the things I love because I was constantly tired. Constantly exhausted. I was telling myself I couldnโ€™t possibly do any of it. Nothing appealed to me. Then I thought of dropping the baby off to my Mum early morning and getting the time to go, but she had already been doing so much to help. Hardly seemed fair. Then I told myself again it wasnโ€™t possible. I cried. . Then @icblinsurance planned a 5K. It was early morning on a public holiday, Heroes Day. I reasoned to myself that I could pack the bag the night before and put the stroller in the trunk. I then told myself I could rest during the afternoon since I didnโ€™t have to work. I told no one of the crazy plan. I didnโ€™t want anyone to talk me out of it. . I paid for the t-shirt on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the ICBL office. I remember getting a number and goodie bag. By the following Monday night, I was ready to turn off the alarm and not bother. I was exhausted. But I packed the bag anyway and leaned the stroller on the door. . I got up. I went. I walked, ran, and I completed the 5K in 53:35 with 3 baby food stops. She was 16 months at the time and seemed to enjoy the ride. I told my parents and friends afterwards. They thought I was a crazy person. But that day was the beginning of rediscovering, a day of realizing that I can push past โ€œtiredโ€ and do the things I love, with persistence and planning. April 28, 2015 was a day of no excuses. @icblinsurance was there when I needed them most, indeed. . We have done plenty walks together since then. Forward only!

This does not mean you have zero dollars in your bank account. But it does means before the month even starts, youโ€™re making a plan and giving every dollar a name. This is called a zero-based budget. It just means your income minus all your expenses (outgo) equals zero. In other words you have to make sure your expenses match your income during the month. : EX. If you earn $2,500 a month. Everything you spend, save, give or invest should to add up to $2,500.

The past is where you learned the lesson. The future is where you apply the lesson. I shared my future goals but here is some insight into my past ๐Ÿ‘‡ . I have made a lot of mistakes over the years but that all changed in 2017 when I decided that I needed to change. I didnโ€™t want to be broke anymore! I wanted to work towards financial independence so that I could live a simple and satisfying life. I didnโ€™t want to follow the steps that my parents took, which was living paycheck to paycheck and โ€œretiringโ€ at 62+. That is the life of most normal people if they even get to retire at all. I made a choice to take action and control what I could to start creating the life I want. . What was your "why" moment? What got you fired up to change something in your life? . 2011: Graduated college with a Bachelorโ€™s of Biology and $50K in student loans. Started work in Quality Assurance. 2014: Switched companies for a promotion. Got a 32% pay increase. 2015: Switched companies for another promotion. Got a 30% pay increase. 2016: Got married and decided to start an MBA program. Added $10K in student loans 2017: Stopped the MBA program. My way of productivity . Quarantine for all of us has been so different yet so the same. I am a married 30 year old with no children and a dog. Iโ€™m a homeowner currently with no job or working partner. . So this is how I have designed my time. Into tasks. These are things this month that I would love to tackle/accomplish. Some are minuscule, some are daily, some are more time consuming. But I really feel there is nothing better than checking off a list โœ…. . I can always add to the list and if a task is not completed I can either carry it to the next month or forget it all together. . I started this a while ago and there are some things on this list I have carried over month after month. If I forget to put something in the list and I feel as though it should have been, I put it on and cross it off. No itโ€™s not cheating. . For whatever reason this has worked for me. Since weโ€™ve been having a drop in the market, I wanted to keep track of how my investments are doing. I am also keeping track via line graph to see how it changes. Hope to be able to show it at the end of the year, or even half way through the year. Anyways, in February I was down -6.67% for my 401K and -4.78% for my IRA with the YTD total climbing down to around -10%. Now, for March, my investments have decreased in value more reaching: -13.21% for my 401K -11.32% for my IRA As for YTD total, I was looking at closer to around -20%. But again, not to fret. I will stay the course. I canโ€™t wait to see when the negatives turn positive. We had a few down days beginning of April and then a few up days so Iโ€™m getting closer to about -15% YTD total now.

The biggest tip I can offer when people are looking into paying off their debts or starting the Baby Steps is that you need to set enough aside for YOUR emergency fund. ๐Ÿ’ต - Some people will save the $1000 that Dave Ramsey suggests and start paying down their debts. The only problem with that, to me, is deciding what that $1000 could pay for if you lost your job. Can you cover one months rent or mortgage with it? Can you pay your utilities? How quickly could you find another job to stretch that $1000? Could you stop yourself from eating out to save more money? - I'm not a financial advisor of any sort, but I personally suggest people who looking into paying off debt to calculate and save at least one months worth of total expenses (I'm talking bare bones expenses). Cut down and cut out certain things that you know you don't need (no one really NEEDS cable or all of their streaming subscriptions) and you'll feel much better about your savings! -debtfree debtfreecommunity dfc budgetfamily budgetlover minimalism minimalhome minimalmillenial minimalmom millenialminimalist debtfreejourney

๐Ÿ’ซ A time of RE-newal๐Ÿ’ซโฃ โฃ โœจThis is such a strange time. I tried to think of the right word to describe the world right now, but strange and weird are the best I could come up with. There is widespread loss, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. Thatโ€™s on a large scale. Now letโ€™s take it smaller. Consider your own life. Iโ€™ll consider mine. Every single time I thought I was losing in life, I later realized it was not a loss but a lesson. I took something out of it. I grew in some way. It made me better. If nothing more, I realized I had the strength to withstand anything life would throw at me. Out of every loss, came RE-storation. This time feels so strange and foreign, but my history tells me itโ€™s no different. We may โ€œloseโ€ at this time. Every single one of us will lose in someway. But there will be renewal on the other side of this. Restoration, Realignment, and Iโ€™ll go ALL the way in and say โ€œResurrectionโ€.(letโ€™s not forget Easter is this weekend). Please remember during this time that you will come out on the other side of this in a better place in someway. Even if you canโ€™t see it right now. YES! Due to the halt on interest for student loans we are saving about $34 A DAY! I feel so blessed that we are still able to make payments and take down these loans! Currently our grad plus is at around 89k (from 119k) and we are hoping to get it to the 70k range before interest comes back in September! How much are you saving in interest? ๐Ÿ’™

Sheโ€™s become very spoiled during quarantine. DFC check-in: So far this year, Iโ€™ve paid off 5.33% of my total debt. I havenโ€™t been able to throw huge amounts towards my debt and Iโ€™m lazier about tracking everything than I was in January. Today I busted open my notebook, planned what Iโ€™m doing financially with this pay period, and transferred some money to savings to make me feel better. Slow progress is STILL progress, though Iโ€™m still beating myself up for not going as intense as some of my dfc pals. You guys are killing it. COVID may throw you off balance for a bit, but we still have a lot of 2020 left. If you have been laid off because of this, my heart is with you! We will overcome. become debt-free so that you can spend not just save!

I've been slowly making my way through my wardrobe and decluttering and organizing items. Donation centers are closed right now, so I just set aside bags that I would like to donate in the den. โœจ . Even though I've paired down my wardrobe a lot over the past few years, it still feels so good to get everything organized once again. โœจ . I've been using this checklist to help me get a better understanding of my spending habits. For example, in the past, I noticed that a lot of the items I was getting rid of were only worn once or twice. I realized that I was buying clothes without thinking about whether I really loved them or not. I just bought them because they were on sale and figured I might wear it someday. Maybe you can relate? โœจ . But now, I like to wear my clothes until they are worn out. I'm getting better mileage from my wardrobe and this makes me happy. It also makes my wallet happy too. โœจ . I bought some new sleepwear recently, but I'm trying to avoid unnecessary spending during this time. It's been great making the most of what I already have. Have you been organizing your wardrobe lately? ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ

A question that people ask a lot during a recession is whether they should start investing. Is this something that you have thought about too? Investing is something that I find isnโ€™t widely talked about, and lots of people think that you need a lot of money to invest - but thatโ€™s not true at all! I wish someone had sat me down at a young age and explained investing to me and why I should be doing it. In fact, I wish that someone had done it at any point! Iโ€™ve never had anyone tell me to invest ๐Ÿคฃ. But why am I investing? Because Iโ€™ve put in the work and done the research. Iโ€™ve figured out my long term goals and what I need to do in order to get there. Iโ€™m no investing expert but I do know that you shouldnโ€™t time the market - itโ€™s the time IN the market that counts. If you try and time it, youโ€™re just putting it off. & if you are truly trying to time it then you will need to buy at the exact right moment and then sell at the exact right moment. Pretty difficult to do! I actually got my partner to open up an investment account today โ˜บ๏ธ Iโ€™ve been bugging him to get one for a while and heโ€™s finally taken the leap! We agreed to do this as a joint decision for our future life goals. This is all for our future! Do you invest? Do you want to start? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! โค๏ธ

When I was in debt I remember consistently feeling like my money was out of control. I didnโ€™t know where most of my money went. _ Twenty bucks here, thirty there, swipe swipe swipe. Most of the time it was unplanned and more importantly UNNECESSARY. In one years time I could easily spend THOUSANDS of dollars on take out, fast fashion, cheap decor, or anything you could think of. _ But every time I saw my credit card balance it was always the same feelings. Regret. Loss of control. Disappointment. Living paycheck to paycheck was something I knew I could NOT keep doing. _ I decided to say GOODBYE to my debt. I began budgeting my paychecks in fall of 2019 and with bills aside, ANYTHING left over went to debt. I became addicted. Every month I tried to beat my amount from the prior. I began selling things on eBay that I know longer needed, I volunteered for overtime- I made the effort. What originally would have taken me about a year to pay off, was COMPLETED in 7 months. _ How did I become debt free? I TOOK CONTROL. I told my money where it should go! Instead of continuing the to allow my money to be used on fast food, cheap clothes, makeup, and gadgets, it went toward paying all my debts. I was also able to create more space by getting rid of things I didnโ€™t need. I took control of my money, and now I am FREE. ๐Ÿฅณ _ _debtfreecommunity debtfreejourney debtfreegoals debtfreeclutterfree debtfreelife debtfreeliving moneytalk buylesschoosewell minimalism budgeting budgetingtips

I actually filed about a week and a half ago. I scheduled an appointment with a tax professional in my hometown. Part of me wasnโ€™t sure whether to still go but I decided to anyway because I didnโ€™t want to cancel on the lady and I just wanted to get them taken care of (even though they had already announced the deadline change). Usually I do them on my own but my mystery shopping income had me feeling uneasy about it. I am glad I went with a tax professional because even though her fee was $150, she still got me back $1058. When I tried to enter it on my own into H&R Block, I was only getting back about $550. Sometimes it is totally worth it to pay a professional. I have added $858 of my refund to my emergency fund. $150 to the preparation fee & $50 for spending on something I had been wanting for awhile.taxes incometax taxseason taxrefund taxpayer budget refund budgeting dfc debtfreecommunity debtfreejourney debtfreedom financialgoals financialfreedom financialpeace financialplanning personalfinance totalmoneymakeover livelikenooneelse daveramsey daveramseybabysteps babystep2 gazelleintense debtfreesomeday aspiringtobedebtfree
