Not going to lie, this past month has been really hard. 🤦🏼‍♀️ And I know a lot of people are also having a hard time. I was never a fan of working from home, I like the routine of going into an office. But, since that’s not a possibility for most people right now, I am spending this week really trying to start a morning routine for myself. I hope this helps the fact that I can’t leave my house better for me. Cause let’s be real, I am getting over time on my couch. What is your morning routine? Is there something in particular that really helps you start your day? Let me know in the comments below👇🏻

In honor of financial literacy month, what financial books are you reading? Do you need help learning about finance or budgeting?

Does being bored and stuck at home all day tempt you to buy things you don't need? Or engage in behaviors that you shouldn't? . Being quarantined and having more time at home can help us reset and focus on things we haven't in a while like cleaning, exercising, reading, praying, meditating and the list goes on. . However, it can also cause us to engage in behaviors that don't benefit us. For me, I've definitely been snacking way more than I should and I'm sure that goes for many others too. It can also be drinking more (I'm sober so I don't partake in that anymore), online shopping, or whatever your vice is really. When we have more idle time, it can cause us to do things we shouldn't. . If you are struggling with any of these things, just know that this is a hard times for everyone, so try not to beat yourself up too much. . However, if you let things go too far, it can eventually lead to a disaster. I used to really love online shopping, I wasn't addicted but I definitely got enjoyment out of it. I have managed to stay away from it during this entire quarantine even with being home all day, online, and bored a lot. Here are a few things that have helped me- . 1. I ask myself, is this an item I truly need right now, or can I do without it? If I can do without, I don't buy it. . 2. Is this item more important to me than the money in my bank? Typically that is a no as well. . 3. Will this item be more beneficial to me longterm than the money I used to buy it? (that money can also accrue interest and become more money in the future). Usually that is a no as well. If I still want to buy the item after all those questions I leave it in my cart for a few days (a couple weeks is even better) and if I decide it's still something I need at that point (which it usually isn't) then I will buy it. . I hope some of these tips can help you!! Remember, we're in hard times so don't beat yourself up if you're not perfect, just try your best. ❤ dfc frugalliving

N E W B L O G P O S T ‼️‼️‼️ ⁣ ⁣ There are a lot of financial “experts” scolding millions of confused and financially burdened people with a bunch of coulda’s, shoulda’s, woulda’s, that is not only ignorant but counterproductive to the current financial hardship our economy is facing. Everyone could stand to make better financial choices, but many of us could have never prepared for something like this.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For the next 30 days, we’ve been asked to practice “social distancing” to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. If there was ever a time to focus on your finances, now is the time. Millions of people have been laid off or their income has been drastically reduced making it imperative to take action to protect their finances. Utilizing this time to prepare and organize your finances will pay off if things take a turn for the worst. In a recent interview I was asked “Where did the name Broke Black Girl come from because you’re definitely not broke?” ⁣ ⁣ I get asked this question a lot and in the beginning of my career I was encouraged to change my name and I refused. I am glad that I stuck with my first mind. For me, financial coaching goes beyond making a few numbers make sense on a piece of paper. I know that there are internal and systematic obstacles that black women encounter that makes it difficult for us to move ahead financially. ⁣ ⁣ My name is an ode to the financial experience that many young black women have in America. I am a firm believer in using powerful language, but I also understand the importance of speaking my truth. I experienced a season of financial hardships that left me financially, mentally and even physically broken. At that moment, I felt that the only way I could overcome the obstacles that I was facing, was, to be honest with myself about where I currently was in life and that indeed was -- broke. Once, I acknowledged where I was and where I wanted to go, I used that as fuel to my fire to push forward. ⁣ ⁣ Granted, I may no longer be "The Broke Black Girl" per se, but I stand in the gap and present myself as the voice for the many girls that are where I once was. . . . . . . . . . . . .blackgirlswhoblog thebrokeblackgirl moneytips debtfreecommunity financialfreedom financialjourney creditrepair finances blackwealth debtfree financialpeace financialconsulting blackgirlsblog financeblog femalefounders financialliteracy budgetbestie blackenterprise quarantineandchill businesswoman netflixandchill blackwealth womeninspiringwomen moneymotivated blackgirlmagic blackcreatives forbeslist womentowatch stlmade financetips moneymoves

Our April 3rd paycheck was a bit of a surprise. This budget may not look like much to work with, but here's what I'm grateful for... ~ ♡ Only 3 small bills due (we used to have way more). ♡ DTV refund arrived just when we needed it to. ♡ Leftover money from the previous budget included income I earned from one of my affiliate links (thank you if you've used my passion planner discount code 🙏). ♡ My miscellaneous savings account My husband and I agreed we would try and make it work without dipping into our emergency fund. It's only 2 weeks until next payday and we're quarantined so there shouldn't be too much spending happening anyway. A situation like this before we changed our money habits/mindset would have resulted in using debt. Our cards were always maxed out because as soon as our payment cleared we could use it up again because we felt that we "needed" to. Despite the craziness in the world, what are you grateful for today?

Here's to my 1st ever COVID-19 career! . . . Okay, but I all seriousness..I'm very thankful I have coaching & i can take that with me anywhere I go....currently just home🥴 . . . A budget is a spending plan created by you to track what money is coming in and what money is going out. This is a much stricter version of your normal budget. Desperate times cause for desperate measures and unfortunately, this budget will not include categories such as fun, entertainment, dining out or anything that is considered a want versus a need. This budget will solely focus on your needs such as housing, food, transportation, and utilities. I can not advise you what to pay or not pay without working with you one on one, but what I can encourage you to do is prioritize your payments. Your essentials (shelter, food, transportation, and utilities) are your top priorities right now. It is possible due to loss of income that your credit score could take a hit because of nonpayment and your debt payments could fall behind, therefore you must contact all of your lenders and providers to discuss options. Fun Fact: This emergency spending budget should be compared to your normal budget so you can get an idea of how much you could save if you were to make a few adjustments. . . . . . . . . . . blackgirlswhoblog thebrokeblackgirl moneytips debtfreecommunity financialfreedom financialjourney creditrepair finances blackwealth debtfree financialpeace financialconsulting blackgirlsblog financeblog femalefounders financialliteracy budgetbestie blackenterprise quarantineandchill businesswoman netflixandchill blackwealth womeninspiringwomen moneymotivated blackgirlmagic blackcreatives forbeslist womentowatch

I just posted my new blog, you can click the link on my bio to read it! • Financial independence is a goal that I believe most of us share. With that being said, I wanted to share my personal journey as I strive to obtain my own goal of financial independence. Everyone has a different definition for “financial independence” and mine is not to self-quarantine each and every day… I will always want to work but would like to only when I WANT to. If I want to take 30 days off to go on vacation with the family, then I want to be financially independent enough to do that. By sharing my personal story, I hope to bring some value to your own journey! If you share this aspiration then follow my blog on our website! Over the past year I have been busting my ass to save and pay off debt. I’ve over worked myself, been hard on myself, deprived myself, and neglected self care! All for paying off stuff I bought years ago. I’m still 100% on the debt free journey, but It’s slow for me. And I accept that! I won’t be debt free in a year probably. I recently finally got heath insurance because I haven’t been able to afford it. This virus has put me out of work and I’m realizing how bad my body hurts from years of doing hair and being on my feet. I have some serious joint and pain problems in my back, shoulders, hands, and hips. I’m slowing down. I’m a single mom so a side hustle is out of the question for me. When this is over I will be taking an extra day off (I work 6 days a week). I will be getting a massage and facial once a month for myself for self care. I will be going to the doctor to see what’s going on with my body and all the pain I’m having. I’m so tired and so over being gazelle intense. It’s nice to hear it and be motivated, but I can only do so much. I’m having to file unemployment and hope I can pay my bills this month. All my goals are at a stand still. It’s very frustrating! I needed a break, but I’m realizing I just don’t got it like that! financialfreedom financialindependence financialjourney debtfreecommunity debtfreejourney babysteps savingmoney debtisdumb cashisking

Learning to build my wealth a day at a time! It's scary as a single person knowing you are the only one responsible for your financial future.
