Does being bored and stuck at home all day tempt you to buy things you don't need? Or engage in behaviors that you shouldn't?
Being quarantined and having more time at home can help us reset and focus on things we haven't in a while like cleaning, exercising, reading, praying, meditating and the list goes on.
However, it can also cause us to engage in behaviors that don't benefit us. For me, I've definitely been snacking way more than I should and I'm sure that goes for many others too. It can also be drinking more (I'm sober so I don't partake in that anymore), online shopping, or whatever your vice is really. When we have more idle time, it can cause us to do things we shouldn't. .
If you are struggling with any of these things, just know that this is a hard times for everyone, so try not to beat yourself up too much.
However, if you let things go too far, it can eventually lead to a disaster.
I used to really love online shopping, I wasn't addicted but I definitely got enjoyment out of it. I have managed to stay away from it during this entire quarantine even with being home all day, online, and bored a lot. Here are a few things that have helped me-
1. I ask myself, is this an item I truly need right now, or can I do without it? If I can do without, I don't buy it. .
2. Is this item more important to me than the money in my bank? Typically that is a no as well.
3. Will this item be more beneficial to me longterm than the money I used to buy it? (that money can also accrue interest and become more money in the future). Usually that is a no as well.
If I still want to buy the item after all those questions I leave it in my cart for a few days (a couple weeks is even better) and if I decide it's still something I need at that point (which it usually isn't) then I will buy it. .
I hope some of these tips can help you!! Remember, we're in hard times so don't beat yourself up if you're not perfect, just try your best. ❤ dfc frugalliving
