🐍 IN MEMORY OF THE MAMBA🐍
Mamba. Mentality. Two words that will remain irrevocably etched in my mind. The funny thing is it wasn’t always that way. In fact, when I was a kid, I actually didn’t like you because you were TOO good. Little did I know about the marvelous mindset behind the man, the mamba himself. As I grew older, it was this mamba mindset that motivated me to greatness. Whenever I thought about giving up, whether or in my workouts or in my life, I’d look down at your logo on my feet and think much better of it. As magnificent as you were on the court (I’ll never forget the countless beer pong games that I won in your name, or the multitude of savage game winning shots you sunk), your monumental mind was even more inspiring. Your return from a devastating Achilles Injury (and the reason I own more Kobe IX’s than any other model, which inspired my fellow young bucks @thebondmia @frankietelfort and @mendezfitness to coin the terms mambamonday and flyknitfriday, my two favorite days of the week) inspired me later when I suffered a horrific lower back injury that nearly robbed me of my passion and my livelihood: the endless pursuit of GAINZ. It was that quest of perpetual self-improvement and challenge-seeking that I realized we had in common and soon thereafter, I came to think of you not just as the best athlete of all time, but also an ICON. There was no finer illustration of this than when you won an OSCAR. A freaking OSCAR!! Needless to say, unprecedented. Furthermore, I was eagerly awaiting your hall of fame induction speech, which was obviously going the be the greatest all time; you were truly one of the GHOAT’s (greatest HUMANs of all time). I know I speak for many members of my generation and others when I say thank you to God for allowing us to be inspired by such a great human and role model. Your legend was only beginning. Even in passing you reminded us of the most important message of all: life is too short to give each day nothing less than your best mambamentality .
RIP Kobe Bean Bryant 1978-2020
As a tribute I pledge to wear a new pair over the next 100+ days and post here so we can honor his legacy, together mambaforever
