I believe the government has a huge responsibility in American's sudent loan debt. African American women hold proportionally more student loan debt than any demographic. With that being said, I am grateful for the CARES Act. Providing COVID-19 relief, the government has suspended all federal student loan payments and interest will not accrue until 9/30/2020.
I logged into my student account and my servicer has already decreased my interest rate to 0%, previously it was 5.3%
If you can financially afford to continue paying your student loans, PLEASE DO girl!! All payments will now go directly to your principal. This will accelerate your student loan payoff.
I know maybe you are thinking.....why would I pay on my student loans, if the government is giving me a pass for a few months?? I say to you, Sis getting out of debt begins with your mindset. You have to train yourself to not have a broke mindset. A broke mindset is prolonging debt when you can afford to pay it off. The sooner you pay off debt the quicker you can build WEALTH. Eliminating debt and building WEALTH is our goal.
***** If your income is directly impacted by the coronavirus and you are unable to pay your student loan, DO NOT try and pay them. Take advantage of this time, be smart and concentrate on your priority expenses
Keep in mind the CARES Act doesn't apply to private student loans only federal student loans.
I believe student loan debt for middle class women is equivalent to what the payday loan is to low-income minorities.
If you can take advantage of CARES Act.

This post is about to get real. Because this time in our lives is real.
I will be straight up with you all. This quarantine has worn me down. I know we continue to joke and make lighthearted of the situation, about how we all are never going to wear jeans again and it’s now acceptable to drink a glass of while at 10am in a Wednesday. But for me, quarantine has been a time of feeling unfulfilled, constantly stressing about feeling sick, and overall lethargy.
I am a creature of habit. While I am introverted, I love having my routine and having my set things to do. Part of that is running errands. I never thought that something so trivial as going to the grocery store or picking up Zoe from daycare was a core pillar to my mental health. But that all has changed. My routine is gone and so was my motivation.
Another issue that I’ve been coping with is Crohn’s disease. This is an inflammatory disease of my small intestine that causes extreme cramping and nausea during a flare up. One of my main flare triggers is stress. To control the flare ups, I am currently on humira- an immunosuppressant. So I have been in this vicious cycle of stressing that I have caught the virus then feeling worse because of the stress.
Last night, Jack and I had a very open conversation about how I was feeling and he gave me the best advice I could have asked for. He challenged me to complete 3 tasks every day - however big or small - to help regain that motivation. Today I 1)did our weekly grocery shopping 2)went for a run and 3)baked these delicious loaves of banana bread. All in all, today has been a good day - and I am starting to feel like my normal self again.
What I want to achieve with this post is share that it’s okay for things not to be okay. This situation sucks. You can feel depressed, upset, angry. Just don’t stay that way. Find someone to talk to about how your feeling. And if you don’t want to talk to your usual person, PM me and we can talk about how we can make a crappy situation better.
Almost six months ago I reached out to Kelli Miller from @sugarblossomjewelry to be the first guest on 15 Questions with ____. It was the start of something so exciting. ✨ If you haven't read that post you should. She's the sweetest and has a pretty "pinch me" story.
Are you doing home workouts? (The answer better be yes because it’s the only option we all have right now.)😢
. And if you are working out from home 🏠 did you know you could get paid to help others work out from home? 💴 .
Right now, getting people started with home workouts, nutrition programs, supplements and shakes is the only source of income I have. 😩And I am so grateful for the extra cash because at a time like now I need it more than ever.
Though this has never been a full time job for me, a very wise person once told me to never only have one source of income. What if your one source of income came crashing down? Then what would you do? 🤦♀️well guess what? My main source of income has come crashing down but luckily I have my side gig. 🙌🏻 (And a great husband who is working so hard right now).
If you’re passionate about helping people get or stay healthy, or maybe you just need the extra accountability to stay healthy yourself, or maybe you would like to make a side income, now is a great 👍🏻time to check out this opportunity and work with me. You don’t need to be a fitness professional to help others get fit. 🏋️♀️You just need to have the determination and drive to motivate and inspire others while working on being the best version of yourself. .
I know most of you will scroll on by and roll your eyes 👀 and that’s OK I expect it. But with everything happening right now, I couldn’t be more grateful that I said yes to this opportunity almost 5 years ago because in these five years I’ve made amazing connections with people, gotten myself in the best shape of my life and am truly healthy from inside out and I get to share this and do the same for others. So I will not ❌apologize for sharing about my side business or asking others to join me because it is truly a gift that I have to give others. 🎁 .
If you want to learn how you can earn $ helping others please don’t hesitate to reach out.
