Holy abs! . I am surprised at the results I have gotten from the Barre program I’ve been doing for the past 7 weeks. Maybe it is because of only using 2lbs weight and the 30-40 minute low impact sessions, I was not sure what I was expecting. Or maybe, it was because I hadn’t been consistent since my son was born. . But really, l shouldn’t be surprise. I have been putting in the work and taking care of my nutrition. I would be the first to tell you, I am a terrible eater. I am a vegetarian/pescatarian (I wouldn’t survive without my tuna!). I eat a little here and there, have a crazy sweet tooth, and love to bake. I would have chosen a chocolate chip cookie over a balanced meal almost any day. . I have been doing at home workouts for over 15 years and this is really one of the first times I focused on nutrition and drank a superfood shake everyday! I guess it’s working! . Move more, eat less is what I always lived by, but putting the extra effort into what I am eating has really paid off! . I can’t wait to see my before and after photos at the end of the program next week. Can you? This is going to take some getting used to. . On day two of my husband staying home with my son while I go to work, I already blew it. I now have to use my husband’s car since the car seat is set up in my car. Well...his car, being an older vehicle, has its quirks, and somehow I killed the battery and had to leave my husband with no car. I know, he probably is not going anywhere, but it was just one more thing not going right for him. . This is a tough time. The least I can do is try to have things in place for something to be a little easier or go right while I am away, not make it more difficult. . We will make it through, but not without our daily challenges. Some stuff i didnt say in the video: The best win of course is having my habits set in place. I've talked about being consistent with workouts, activities & portion checks. Tonight as i was about to sleep, i suddenly thought, this program has help me do what I always wanted to do most: document my journey. I was scared of judgements - posting my awkward workout videos in my ugly poses or posting too many food photos that may annoy people. But hey, this is my account, my feed, my life. I should post about my progress, what i do, and the things I care about. I usually end up not posting things because I want things to be "presentable" if not perfect. Like curating my feed, choosing only nice pics, editing the filters etc2. But posting real and raw stuff is just more honest. I'm happier with this documentation of progress. lean16 has definitely broke me free from that rigidity and i feel liberated! So yeah, thank you for giving me this courage to step up and just do it! It was a strange day. Snow and empty roads on the way to work. . My routine was broken for me for the first morning in three weeks. I was not able to do my workout this morning, I was up sick part of the night. Usually it’s my toddler getting me up at 2:00am. I have IBD and this kept me up and from being able to stick to my routine this morning. . I was disappointed, but I know I am not alone. So many people have had their routines disrupted lately. I will try to squeeze in an evening sweat session, that is if my husband and 18 month old son made it through their first day home together. I don’t want to stop now. I want to stay accountable. . I used to be so flexible...both literally and figuratively. . As I started running and training for marathons, my hips became so tight, and I was never good about getting into the habit to stretch them. Now after having my son, forget it, I don’t know if I will ever be able to do the splits again. Something I swore to myself I would never lose. . But, I am not going to give up. I will get back there and making it a habit to stretch better. Small changes and tiny steps. . For flexibility in my mindset, that will take small changes too. I have to let go and not be so stubborn. Know what I can control and know I can’t do everything. . I have been listening to an audio book, “Tiny Habits” by BJ Fogg @bjfogg and it is so good. What do you do when your world is turned upside down? . Thing sure have been different. I have been going to work every so far this week, but not sure what to expect when I get there. This is hard. I keep waiting for the daycare to call and tell me they are shutting down, then what? . It is so hard to try to prepare and plan. Do you ever feel like you just want to hide? . I could have stayed in this child’s pose all morning. It was comforting and safe. With all the uncertainty out there, it is easy to get overwhelmed. . Do you have a favorite workout? . My go-to and first love is kickboxing. When I started working out at home over fifteen years ago, the first product I ever ordered was a kickboxing DVD set. I fell in LOVE!! ❤️ I did it every day! And, those extra pounds I put on my first few years of college came right off. . Around that time, I also became a vegetarian 🥦 and started looking at healthy eating habits. I had always been active. I was a gymnast 🤸‍♀️ throughout high school and did some cheerleading in college, but with this program, I knew, I would never need to go to the gym again, and this was my new way of life! . This lifestyle had been pretty easy to keep up on my own, until my son was born. 👶 The past 18 months have been a struggle to get back into a routine and accountability to myself. I have made some amazing progress in the past few weeks, and have turned to sharing my journey to help others. . With all this, I am so excited for this next program! I can’t believe it! . I made it through two whole weeks of working out every morning. I have changed my routine and mindset. . For months, I put myself last, I thought that I couldn’t worry about working out, my son was my top priority. Months went by and it became so easy just to stay in bed in the morning. I had gone this long without working out, what was the use now? . I was tired, and some would even call it depressed. I even went to the doctor. I missed so many workouts. I considered myself a failure. I had no accountability to myself. . But now, I am getting up every morning for me, my sanity, and it will only help my son out more in the long run. . ✨Sometimes you have to remind yourself of how far you’ve come instead of dwelling on how far you have to go✨ . . This is an 18-month transformation proving that a woman’s body is INCREDIBLE. This one body carried twins full term, nourished two tiny human beings while every part of it was stretched, strained, and fatigued. cankles . . It’s the same body that fed the twins for over a year. It’s the same body that snuggled, rocked, and paced babies to sleep or for comfort. It’s the same body that could only do walks with a stroller before running another half marathon. It’s the same body that got winded going up the stairs and now craves burpees and push-ups ((who am I?!)) . . It’s a body that wears a c-section scar across its lower abdomen, that carries loose skin after being stretched to its max. It’s got more wrinkles, grayer hair, and an umbilical hernia to boot. It’s the body of a warrior and it’s strongasamother !! . . Wherever you are...the before, the during, the after...know that you are STRONG, you are BEAUTIFUL, and you are CAPABLE of anything and everything!! Lean in to that, knowing you are all sorts of AMAZING today!! 😘

How did daylight savings affect you? . Well, it was pretty dark when I did my workout this morning, but I got it done. . Change can be tough, right? I know my 18 month old was struggling this morning, and my 11 year old dog, certainly did not want to get out of bed. . Don’t let this break your routine. Work with it. Yesterday was World Book Day... and one of my New Year’s resolutions was committing to finding time for books...📚 I wanted them to be connected to my personal development or/and related to my interests and hobbies... So decided to purchase all books that I wanted to read this year and try to complete as many as I can! Unfortunately subvocalisation gets in a way of speed reading, so it’s an extremely ambitious target, but will try to do my best. Putting all the books on my bedside table will keep reminding me to find time to switch off before bedtime, settle and avoid any screen time when I start my bedtime routine... I’m working on not letting life getting in the way of my commitments to myself and wellbeing... Life goal: be more like coffee🤣🤣☕️

We live in an aspiration-driven culture that is rooted in instant gratification. We find it difficult to enact or even accept incremental progress. Which is exactly why you need to cultivate meaningful long term change. We get frustrated and demoralized when things don’t happen quickly. ⁣ ⁣ It’s normal. ⁣ ⁣ But.... it’s another way, another reason we are set up to fail. ⁣ ⁣ I am still here 5.5 years in working on my health and wellness, building my coaching business. Have I wanted to give up. Absolutely like 5 bazillion times. But I don’t. ⁣ ⁣ Here is why. I watched my mother yo-yo diet, try all the diet fads and nothing ever worked. Looking back I know it was because she always took the easy way out. No actual work just pills and cleanses. I also watched her struggle in finances and in relationships hugely. And she still does to this day. ⁣ ⁣ I am building a super strong foundation here in health and business. And my kids are seeing the work that has gone into what I do in all corners. They will know it doesn’t come easy. Nothing you really want to happen will come easy or happen over night. Especially nothing with a long term life attached to it. ⁣ ⁣ So before you think the pill, wrap, cleanse, food elimination (unless there is health reasons attached to it) is the answer I want you to ask yourself ⁣ 1. Is it sustainable for life? ⁣ 2. Will this really help me long term? ⁣ 3. Is this a quick fix? ⁣ 4. What will happen if I stop doing this? Will it put me back to day 1? ⁣ ⁣ If you answer yes to any of those then girl it’s not the answer. ⁣ ⁣ The answer is - Eat real whole foods not the processed boxes stuff, move your body somehow some way for 30 mins every day, drink the dang water that you hate, limit your alcohol consumption, and do the dang work!!!! They payoff is so much better. I promise!! ⁣

THIS MIGHT STING A LITTLE, (hopefully the smile softens the blow). 99% of your current situation is ALL your doing. If you want something different here’s 3 BIG things you must understand. . . 1st - it takes belief. You must believe it is at least “remotely possible” and that YOU deserve it. Why not you? . . 2nd - Focus wins over talent. And guess what?! Focus is a skill. Which means you can learn it! It is said the average millionaire took 7 years to amass their fortune. The only shortcut is to focus and find the right mentors. This is true in business, therapy, fitness, marriage, you name it! Its not about working harder. The more focused you are the faster you’ll get there. . . 3rd - Take 100% personal responsibility in all things. There’s no room for excuses. If you want it, it’s up to you. No more crying, complaining or blaming. You need better skills, better influences, better habits and better focus. Dreams do not come true for those who point to an unsupportive spouse, blame their financial situation, a crappy boss, toxic friends, competitive space or any other perceived obstacle. Dream achievers don’t see obstacles. They see opportunities. . . Do you have what it takes? What do you have to work on??? Getting back on track has always been a problem for me as I felt like a total failure and felt super guilty over overeating or munching or anything that was supposed to be out of my lifestyle. It is easily overwhelming for me to juat enjoy the process and this program is what helpa me : baby steps that matters in the end. I'm truly learning to l just enjoy the ride this time, with its ups and downs. 💜

This quote straight up smacked me in the face yesterday afternoon when it showed up in my inbox courtesy of @jasminestar 😳⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This Monday was jam-packed from 9AM-9PM (call me crazy but I dig days like that), and I woke up not feeling well on Tuesday so I knew my body just needed some space to rest.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was grateful for the CHOICE to spend the day in my PJs.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But also a little resentful that taking an unplanned half day of downtime meant I had to coordinate with 4+ people & play tetris with my schedule for the rest of the week...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Enter: this quote in my inbox with a reality check & attitude adjustment I needed on (what I hadn't even realized was) my 4th entrepreneur-iversary🤭⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 4 years ago today, I'd just said "see ya later" to agencylife (and employeelife in general) and promised myself I'd NEVER look back -- even though I only had ONE (crappy) client whose monthly retainer covered MAYBE 30% of our rent.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Well, guess what? I DID look back👀⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I looked back a lot 👀Probably 2x/month on average during my first year of entrepreneurlife ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Why? Because there were plenty of days I spent all day in my PJs and did pretty much nothing BECAUSE nobody knew the difference & there was nothing on my schedule to rearrange.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Not because I didn't want to work... ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Because, as an impact-driven extrovert, only having my dreams to show up for day-in and day-out was downright draining. And some days, it was super depressing😔⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So when I'd start feeling like my presence was particularly pointless, I looked back👀I'd scroll job postings & dream of having inspiring people and meaningful projects to show up for on a daily basis.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Spoiler Alert: I only LOOKED back & never actually WENT back. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And for that, I'm BEYOND grateful💜⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ These days, my plate is so abundantly filled with inspiring people and meaningful projects to show up for on a daily basis that "taking a day" requires a bit of communication & schedule-tetrising.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So as I continue navigating my entrepreneurial journey, this quote is my reminder to appreciate the abundance along the way✨⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What's something overwhelming that might just be the abundance you asked for?

Self care Sunday. I try my best to set aside some time for me to prep for the week coming up by a hot bath and some skin pampering. It's a nice little reward. lean16 pushgoal

So the way I make sure to take care of me is by painting my nails and making sure they’re always painted. Having them painted always makes me happy and gives me a break from life....I’ve always struggled with nail biting and could never find a way to curb it. My nerves always won. But about 3-4 years ago, I decided I just needed to always have my nails painted and If any chipped I had to repaint. I started doing this because my nails got so bad it was embarrassing to look at natural. Eventually I started using a nail growth polish, I stuck to painting them every week to biweekly, and eventually they started growing. I’d have a few mishaps here and there, but I’d finally gotten my biting under control. Now, whenever I don’t have them painted I start getting anxious I’m going to start biting again. Currently I do not have my nails painted, but I wanted to wait for when I had more time. I’m glad I didn’t paint them bc today I broke a nail moving those rocks! lean16 lean16push pushgoal

Self care is me time, and there are 2 things I do regularly to help me wind down : playing with make up and reading. I read books super fast and get completely enthralled in it (which is why I can skip a workout sometimes)... Those are the root in my day : after my morning walk I'll just unwind and do my makeup before leaving for work but I'm enjoying myself and try new things on a daily basis. Same applies for the night: I'll try new color or method or anything I want to play with before taking it all off and reading in bed. What I did more this week is getting some makeup and some strong bands for the legs. (As you saw in one of my activity check this week). I also got some gym shark dupes and they will arrive next week 😍😍. This week's pushgoal is to show how we manage self care in our regular routines.  TL;DR I spend time with good reading material, good music, good atmosphere or a mix of all three. ~ Honestly, I don't dedicate specific time in the day or week to "self care". I try to be generally mindful, I try to generally practice things that I know help me stay present like yoga or meditation, I'm trying to do things which are healthy for me like exercise and doing things which I enjoy like cosplay and reading. But sometimes despite doing all that I'm still knocked back by the things going on in my head. This week I had the cloudiest day since this year began, and it was hard convincing myself that sticking to any of this is worth it. I kind-of gave myself two options though, either just give up and let myself spiral downwards (which is what I did initially), or to make a plan hour by hour on how I was going to spend my day and how I was going to fill my time until I felt better.  I spent the evening taking a long shower, listening to music, reading comics (10 Grand - would recommend) and sewing my cosplay for the weekend. And I realised that this plan was my form of self care. I ignored messages from friends (sorry) and took some time for me doing peaceful things I enjoy. And sometimes that's what is needed to get back into that positive headspace.  I'm still not 100 percent but I'm a helluva lot better than Thursday and I plan on continuing step by step til the storm has passed. lean16push tfnteam lean16 selfcare mentalhealth itsokaytonotbeokay

The ONE fundamental thing to self care for me is to stop and listen to my body and mind. I do this through various methods, like meditation, journaling, or simply drive without any music on and just have a conversation with myself. By doing this i can put my head to rest and focus on taking action once i can figure what's the best thing to do. Sometimes the best thing to do is to slow down and say no to things. Sometimes you need to be patient a little bit and go with the flow. Other times, gotta go find an expert and get help. So these couple of days my left hip and leg is starting to get tight again from muscle imbalance and flat foot, so i've decided to visit my physiotherapist who thought some taping would help me. And yeap it does. I'd avoid basketball/badminton at the time being but i think gym and swim is okay. I dont often get the opportunity to treat myself to anything. Whether it be kids, finances, or schedules, anything above and beyond tends to not work out. So for my 'self-care', I stay up and hour or so after everyone is asleep and unwind by watching some of my favorite shows. I tend to watch things like Criminal Minds at night that keep my mind rather occupied so I am not thinking about any of the many things that would keep me up and stressed. 😂 Its a great way to unwind at the end of each day and give me a fresher start to the next!lean16push pushgoal lean16pushgoal tfnteam lean16 criminalminds

Here's my pushgoal for the week! I actually have a tab on my phone labeled self-care, which you see here. If you swipe right, you will notice that sleep, fitness, nutrition, and my health are included. One of my biggest beliefs is that if you treat your body right and give it what you know it needs, everything else will fall into place. So I really love doing just that. . That hour at the gym? Me time. That time cooking meals in the kitchen that fit my macro goals? Me time. Those long afternoon walks with Birch? Me time (well, *our* time). That half hour before sleep where I wind down with the boys cuddled up and a good show on? Me time. . It's not really in my nature to put myself first and self-care is a term that I have had to discover, learn about and incorporate into my life. And I guess fitness, nutrition, and relaxing with loved ones is how I do it. .lean16 @teamplans and all you TFN ladies who have made my days so much brighter these last few weeks, thanks for reminding me that self-care is a priority.
